Port Moresby, 19 July 2024 – Today marks the successful conclusion of the one-week public service induction program organized by the National Trade Office through its Corporate Services Division. Held at the SILGA Training Centre, the program has been instrumental in preparing 30 probationary officers for their roles as permanent public servants within the National Trade Office.
Over the past week, the officers have undergone comprehensive training to equip them with essential knowledge and skills, ensuring their readiness to contribute effectively to the mission and objectives of the National Trade Office. This program also included the swearing of oaths with the Legal Counsel of SILGA Mr. Bill Samson, solidifying their commitment to uphold the values and responsibilities of public service.
Present at today’s closing ceremony are Corporate Services Director Mr. Bui Kandato and the program instructor Mr Diki Saia. Mr. Kandato expressed his pride in the officers’ achievements and echoed the importance of their roles in advancing Papua New Guinea’s trade and economic objectives. He also acknowledged the unwavering support of Chief Trade Officer Mr. Richard Yakam and the diligent efforts of the HR team in making this program a success.
“The induction program has been a pivotal step in the professional development of our probationary officers. Their dedication and hard work over the past week have demonstrated their commitment to excellence in public service. We are confident that they are now well-prepared to serve as permanent public servants and contribute to the growth and success of the National Trade Office,” Mr. Kandato stated. He emphasized the significance of the certification, stating, “The certificate is very important and will take you miles in the public service. It is crucial that we at the NTO ensure you have this essential document.”
Additionally, Mr. Kandato expressed his gratitude to Chief Trade Officer Mr. Richard Yakam for the success of the event. The Director of SILGA Mr. Allan Kamale also congratulated the participants, highlighting the importance of being a public servant and working in the public sector. “Public service is a significant industry in the country,” the Director noted, underlining the vital role that public servants play in national development.
On behalf of the participants, Mr. Daniel Akivi made remarks, thanking the management of the National Trade Office and SILGA for making this program a successful initiative.
The program concludes with the awarding of certificates to the participants, marking their official transition into permanent roles within the National Trade Office. This achievement underscores the Office’s commitment to building a robust and skilled workforce, capable of driving sustainable trade practices and promoting economic growth on a global stage.
