PAPUA New Guinea’s export continues to be dominated by the mineral sector, with almost 98.9 per cent exports to Australia, while 60 per cent of mostly gas and round logs go to China, an official says.
PNG National Trade Office chief trade officer Richard Yakam told The National that the country’s coffee, cocoa, vanilla and fisheries exports had declined in demand in Australia and China.
Yakam said it was partly due to Australia and China’s interest in other markets, and due to PNG’s capacity to meet the demand.
