Objective

Expo 2025 seeks to explore innovative solutions and collaborative efforts to address the most pressing challenges facing humanity. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Expo aims to create a diverse, inclusive, and sustainable society, ensuring that “no one is left behind.” The Expo theme addresses global challenges such as natural disasters, climate change, and pandemics like COVID-19, providing an opportunity for countries to exchange ideas and find solutions to improve societies worldwide. The theme is supported by three interrelated subthemes: Saving Lives, Empowering Lives, and Connecting Lives.

These subthemes encapsulate the Expo’s commitment to fostering sustainable development, social inclusion, and technological advancements that enhance the quality of life for all. The concept of the Expo is embodied in the notion of a “People’s Living Lab,” where visitors will actively participate in shaping the course of humanity. Expo 2025 Osaka will showcase innovative technologies like Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and Big Data to optimize lives and societies. It aims to tackle issues such as healthcare, food security, environmental sustainability, energy, safety, and equality, working towards achieving the United Nations’ SDGs.

Osaka 2025 Expo is different from the previous world expositions. Osaka Expo is also known as SDG Expo.

In 2025, the world will be a mere five years away from 2030, the year the United Nations has set as the target for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), making it a crucial one for ramping up efforts to achieve the goals. Therefore, 2025 Osaka Expo will become a key platform for reaching the SDGs by 2030.
