The Chief Trade Officer, Mr. Richard Yakam and senior officials from the National Trade Office attended the 2025 APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting in Jeju, South Korea. The trade ministers meeting was held amidst challenging times in the global trading environment driven by elevated levels of policy uncertainty and advancements in technological innovation.

(i) Restoring confidence in the Multilateral Trading System (MTS) through the reform of the World Trade Organization (WTO) to make it fit for purpose
(ii) Addressing the ‘digital divide’ so the benefits of modern technologies can be diffused;
(iii) Continuing their commitment to ease the cost of doing business through strengthening: Connectivity, Supply Chain Efficiency and Resilience, Trade Facilitation (paperless trade); and improving Services Competitiveness; and
(iv) Enhancing the capacity of indigenous businesses to increase their participation in regional and international markets.
