Government Welcomes Adyton Resources Corporation as a Listed Company on PNGX
Port Moresby, September 23, 2026- The Minister for International Trade and Investment, Hon. Richard Maru, on behalf of the Marape-Rosso Government welcomed Adyton Resources Corporation as a listed company on the Papua New Guinea National Stock Exchange (PNGX), commencing trading today.
Adyton Resources Corporation is a Canadian mineral exploration and development company focused on gold and copper projects in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Minister Maru encouraged the company to consider issuing a prospectus for Papua New Guineans to buy shares, should they wish to raise capital to expand their operations.
The Minister called on other resource companies to also list on the PNGX, specifically the K92 Mining and the Ramu Nickel Mine.
“It is high time they are listed and also owned by Papua New Guineans. They should not be allowed extension or issuance of new mining leases without listing on the PNGX so our superfunds and the ordinary citizens of this country may buy shares to fund their future expansion. Why are they avoiding to list when other resource companies like the Santos Limited, Newmont and now Adyton Resources Corporation have listed on the PNGX? This cannot be allowed anymore as part of our Reset PNG agenda,” he said.
Minister Maru said it was time for Papua New Guineans to be owners and not continue to be just spectators in the exploitation of their resources 51 years on. He stated that the Constitution called for all citizens to have an equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from the development of the country, quoting National Goal 2 (Equality and Participation), specifically the first three directive principles (we accordingly call for):
(1) an equal opportunity for every citizen to take part in the political, economic, social, religious and cultural life of the country;
(2) the creation of political structures that will enable effective, meaningful participation by our people in that life, and in view of the rich cultural and ethnic diversity of our people for those structures to provide for substantial decentralization of all forms of government activity; and
(3) every effort to be made to achieve an equitable distribution of incomes and other benefits of development amongst individuals and throughout the various parts of the country.
“It is not acceptable that only the State, Provincial Governments and the landowners are shareholders in the resource companies. I want to see a transition where PNG citizens are also allowed to invest in these companies as stipulated in our Constitution. The Mining Act of 1992 says all minerals existing on, in, or below the surface of any land in PNG are the property of the State. The question is: How do we define the “State”? Is it just the Government or does it also include the 10 million people of PNG? I say the State involves every citizen of this country. When our citizens do not participate, we are in breach of our Constitution,” said Minister Maru.
The Minister further called on every company across all sectors that were listed in other countries to now consider dual listing on the PNGX.
“We plan to introduce a legislation making it mandatory for companies operating in PNG to list on the PNGX, especially if they are listed abroad. We are also looking at offering tax incentives to attract investors to list on the PNGX like the reduced tax rate offered by the South Pacific Stock Exchange in Fiji where listed companies benefit from a concessional corporate tax rate of 15 percent compared to the standard 30 percent corporate rate,” he said.
