National Trade Office Engages SMEs at World Coconut Day 2024 Seminar in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
– The National Trade Office (NTO) proudly participated in the World Coconut Day 2024 Seminar, held from September 30 to October 4, 2024, at the Sir John Guise Indoor Stadium. Organized by the International Coconut Community (ICC) and Kokonas Indastri Koporesen (KIK), a week-long seminar brought together stakeholders from the coconut industry, including farmers, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), government officials, and international partners, to discuss sustainable practices and innovations.
This year’s seminar theme, “Coconut for a Circular Economy: Building Partnerships for Maximum Value,” aligns with the NTO’s commitment to fostering sustainable development and promoting the growth of the coconut sector in Papua New Guinea. Throughout the seminar, the NTO engaged with numerous SMEs and interest groups, offering vital support to local producers. The office organized workshops focused on enhancing business skills among local SME owners, covering essential topics such as marketing, financial management, and export readiness, equipping participants with the necessary tools for success in international markets.
The NTO facilitated connections between local coconut producers and international buyers, showcasing local coconut products and fostering potential trade partnerships while providing critical insights on navigating trade regulations.
