CEPA Technical Working Group Meetings Underway

Today, the office is hosting the CEPA Technical Working Group (TWG) meetings on Trade in Services and Economic Development Cooperation.
The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) is an important bilateral framework aimed at strengthening economic and trade relations, promoting investment opportunities, enhancing cooperation, and creating long-term economic benefits for Papua New Guinea and its partner economies.
The Technical Working Groups serve as key consultation and coordination platforms where government agencies and stakeholders discuss technical matters, policy priorities, implementation strategies, and areas for cooperation under CEPA.

The Trade in Services Working Group focuses on service sectors that contribute significantly to economic growth and employment. Discussions cover areas such as tourism, information and communication technology (ICT), transport, logistics, finance, education, professional services, and digital trade.
The objective is to improve market access, strengthen the competitiveness of local service providers, encourage investment, and create new opportunities for businesses and professionals within the services sector.

This cooperation aims to support sustainable economic growth, improve institutional capabilities, and enhance opportunities for inclusive development across Papua New Guinea.
These meetings provide an important opportunity for agencies and stakeholders to collaborate, share views, and contribute towards advancing Papua New Guineaโ€™s economic and trade interests through effective partnership and cooperation.
